When approaching a group whose name evokes a barbaric Neanderthal, one may expect a raucous, motley crew of unkempt hooligans who specialize in grizzly yowls and banging big sticks together - but that’s exactly what Caveman wants you to think. In reality these fine young Brooklynites, clad in button-up shirts and ties, exude a contrary gentle sophistication in both their aesthetic and their sound. Caveman are able to capitalize on that very reverse psychology by lulling the listener into a somewhat tropical state of mind with its friendly, reverb-laden indie pop. Sweeping synths and breezy, echoing guitars meet laid-back drumming behind a soundscape of airy four-part vocal harmonies to form the sound of these civilized savages.
Fresh off a short summer tour with Rogue Wave, the dapper quintet was kind enough to stop by Threadless HQ for a special, stripped-down performance in front of our office mural wall. Showcasing some very fine material from their new self-titled album released this February, it’s needless to say their solid live show was a hit amongst Threadstaff who were lucky enough to catch it. You too can catch the band while on the road this fall for their full US tour with indie darlings Ra Ra Riot!
