If You Could Live in a Surreal Landscape, Where Would You Want to Live?

A land of gravity-defying floating mountains a la Avatar? A planet with an orange and purple sky covered in forests that make redwood trees look like sprouts? A kingdom where everything is pillows?

With No Man’s Sky fresh on our consoles, we’ve got surreal, alien landscapes on the mind. So we asked our artists this week if they could live in a surreal landscape, where would they want to live?

Check out what they had to say below! Have a cool surreal landscape you’d love to dwell in? Leave it in the comments!

“A Scene From Mars” by Agimat Ni Ingkong

If I could live in some surreal landscape I’d prefer to live in a sky floating mountain like my printed design, “A Scene From Mars.” Every place, every space has its own story to tell, a floating mountain that signifies sceneries that play with our wide imagination flying into Space. I think that would be cool to live into.

It would be good to live in a landscape where the blue of the ocean and the blue of the sky is not separated, and you can dive among cities and forests, and fly between seas at the same time.

I would live in a glass cube floating in the blue sea, surrounded by blue-eyed fishes with blue wings. Striped water-cats are my good neighbors. Bubble-clouds are passing by. A little bit of gardening in a seaweed glasshouse.

Give me a magical forest any day! Mysterious lanterns hanging from lush, ancient trees, unidentified dots of lights swirling through the air, curious eyes peering out of oversized fern clusters, strange flowers, mossy rocks, and the barest musical refrain echoing in the leaves…

I think maybe an *incredibly* reinforced house on King Kong’s Skull Island would be amazing. But only if there were some decent shops on a nearby island. And I had a helicopter. And knew how to fly a helicopter.

I think I’d like to be able to hop around a crazy, inexplicable archipelago full of islands of wildly diverse cultures, climates and ecosystems. I’m thinking of an Earth Sea, Dawn Treader, Wind Waker, Orange Islands, with a little Star Trek mixed in kind of experience, and I’ll live out of my air yacht. (I’m not sure I’ve ever geeked out as much as I did in those last two sentences…)
