Deck Your Halls with Low-Key Festive Decor

The holiday season is ramping up. Whether your most hallowed day has already passed (long live Halloween!) or you’re all about the turkey (gobble it up!), there’s something special about prepping your house for the chillier days with cozy, seasonally inspired decor. It puts you in the mood to hunker down and get in the holiday spirit.

Extra indoor time during the holidays means more time for baking gingerbread cookies, drinking cider, making DIY ornaments, listening to holiday music, and watching classic movies. We’re here for all of it! Before settling in for your long winter’s nap, switch out your home’s decor for more autumnal, winter, and holiday-infused art, rugs, blankets, pillows, and more.

Follow in Furry Footsteps

Bear design rug
Swap your doormat for nature themed rugs.

Take your cue from nature’s top hibernators. Include some bear-y good art on your doorstep. Using a rug in your entryway or as a doormat is an easy and washable way (especially with winter boots trekking in and out!) to cozy up your space while adding a holiday touch. Grab several designs (bears, holiday art, whatever makes your doorway shine) because you’ll want back-ups for when you need to wash these seasonally inviting rugs.

Make Your Holiday Cozy (and Bright)

Pillows around a Christmas tree
Cozy up under the tree with pillows.

Decorate with all things cozy for the comfiest holiday season yet! There’s nothing quite as delightful as a tree or holiday themed corner made all the merrier with piles of pillows, warm fleece-lined blankets, and your furry family members (dressed in zip-up hoodies). Pick out several fun holiday designs for when you can’t stop snuggling, when you’re convinced Santa’s a little too watchful, or when you love space just as much as decking out the tree.

Drink Up All Season Long

Autumnal mug
Cheers with festive and seasonally inspired mugs.

Stay hydrated and merry with coffee, hot cocoa, cider, or whatever special drink you’re drinking (a little morning eggnog never hurt anyone!) in festive latte or ceramic mugs. Swap your go-to coffee cups for more seasonally inspired options. Feel the good holiday vibes from morning to night. Try fall-themed picks, a holiday sweater and video game mash-up, or a mug inspired by the fog of the holi-daze

Find Art from the Heart

Framed wall art
Swap your wall art for nature themes.

Just because it’s holiday time, doesn’t mean you have to go overboard with decor that screams yuletide cheer. Simply swap several of your framed art prints for designs with cooler, richer tones. Pick prints in greens, blues, purples, and reds. Or change up art on the walls around your tree to reinforce the mood. Keep it minimalistic with nature prints themed with mountains or animals.

Light It Up!

Lights and home decor
Add string lights to warm up a room.

However you celebrate this season, make your space feel extra special with all kinds of lights. Hang colored string lights from your walls, decorate with simple white lights, or get super cozy with candles. Whatever route you pick, infusing your rooms with soft lighting is a simple way to make them feel special and warm.
